‘Introducing Joy’ is a journey to the familiar places Joy calls home. Having lived in Jamaica for 7 years, British-born Joy attempts to reconcile her life as a busy Londoner with what has become her cherished Jamaican dream.
The exhibition showcases the landscapes, faces and lifestyles that shape Joy’s world – from the nostalgic view of the
Old Brompton Road, to everyday life on the beach at Mammee Bay in Jamaica.
‘Introducing Joy’ is a visual celebration of all that is evidently unique about these two places but through the artist’s gaze, also unites in them what is beautifully similar.
Joy has lived in Earl’s Court for almost 20 years and has exhibited previously at the local Earls Court Festival. Her work has also takepride of place alongside that of other important local artists as part of the mayoral collection in the Mayor’s parlour at RBKC’s town hall.
