Biography
I was born in Nigeria 1977, and raised in north London. My work consists of sculptures constructed from animal bones and mixed media that make reference to everyday objects.
My “Chicken Chair” made totally from bones is like a throne that is strong enough to support someone’s weight. When some individuals have sat on it, some have said that they felt like royalty, and were surprised that the chair did not break. People have found my chair both fascinating and horrifying in equal measures. The many bones used to form the throne symbolises all the sacrifice of individual’s coming together to support this greater figure. This figure could be a ruler, or represent a technological super power. The powerful are mostly strong due to the support or exploitation of others.
I am fascinated with the medium bones, and its potential use in sculpture. I enjoy the challenge of transforming everyday discarded materials into something meaningful.
